Eight Mile Ranch is nestled eight miles west of Cañon City, Colorado, near the Royal Gorge Bridge, offering stunning views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The Royal Gorge region is renowned for its diverse outdoor adventures, including trail riding, rafting on the wild Arkansas River, hiking, rock climbing, bicycling, off-roading, exploring local museums, and visiting one of the highest suspension bridges in the world.

As a family-owned and operated facility with over 90 years of combined experience in the animal industry, we provide personalized care for animals of all breeds, sizes, and types. Whether you're in need of boarding while enjoying the area's attractions or have an exotic or unusual pet, we are here to help. Our facility is veterinarian recommended, ensuring the highest standards of care.

Our ranch is our private residence, securely gated and chain-link fenced to ensure the safety of all animals. With animals often enjoying the open space of the ranch, we operate by appointment only to protect the well-being of all visitors, both two- and four-legged. If you're traveling along US Highway 50, one of the longest highways in America, and need a place for your animal while you stay at a nearby campground or hotel, we offer worry-free care so you can fully enjoy your journey.

We provide daily, weekly, and monthly horse boarding in our spacious barn with in-and-out corrals. With miles of trails accessible directly from our ranch and hundreds more nearby, you can immerse yourself in the wilderness and wildlife of southern Colorado. Occasionally, we have horses for sale, ranging from trained and untrained to gaited and ungaited, colored and solid, young and old—even some with rodeo experience. If we don't have the horse you're looking for, we're happy to refer you to someone who does. We take pride in matching riders with horses to create lifelong partnerships.

In addition to our boarding services, we also raise several breeds of dogs as family pets. If they meet our high standards and pass all health checks, we may breed them, typically producing one or two litters per year. Our dogs are whelped in our bedroom and raised in our home. We currently have planned litters of German Shepherds and Smooth Fox Terriers for the coming year. Whether you're looking for a show-quality dog, a working dog, or a family pet with a superb temperament, all of our dogs are health screened and come with a written health guarantee.
