Eight Mile Ranch is located eight miles west of Cañon City Colorado near the Royal Gorge Bridge with a beautiful view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The Royal Gorge region is known for its’ diverse adventures, such as trail riding, rafting the wild Arkansas river, hiking, rock climbing, bicycling, off roading, local museums, and one of the highest suspension bridges in the world.
We are a family owned and operated facility with over 90 years of combined experience in the animal industry, we offer personalized animal care for all breeds, kinds, colors, sizes, and manners of animals. If you have a need to have your animal cared for while you enjoy all that is offered, we’ll keep them safe and sound for you. If you have an exotic or unusual animal we can help. We are veterinarian recommended.
The facility is our private residence and is securely gated and chain-link fenced for the safety of all the animals. We often have animals enjoying a romp around the ranch. For this reason we are open by appointment only for the safety of all visitors, both two and four legged. Please call us anytime to schedule your visit and for rate information.
If you are traveling through on US Highway 50 , one of the longest highways in America, heading to the next rodeo, horse show or just going home. You can leave your animal with us for the night while you stay at one of the many fine campgrounds or hotels that are within a short distance from our ranch. We offer the best, worry-free care for your animal so that you can enjoy all the travel plans that you have.

We offer daily, weekly, and monthly horse boarding in our large barn with in and out corrals. There are miles of trails from our ranch and hundreds of miles of trails close by so that you can enjoy the wilderness and the wild life that southern Colorado has to offer.
We occasionally have horses for sale. They can include trained, untrained, gaited, ungaited, colored, solid, young or old, we’ve even had one that bucked for a living. If we don’t have what you are looking for we will gladly refer you to someone that does. We pride ourselves in being able to match riders to horses in the hope that the rider and horse will find a forever friend and lifetime home.

We have several breeds of dogs that we keep as family pets. If they are truly superb examples of their breed and pass all their health checks, we will breed them. We usually have a litter or two a year. They are whelped in our bedroom and raised in our home. We currently have German Shepherd and Smooth Fox Terrier litters planned for the coming year. We try to offer something for everyone. We have show quality, working dogs and pets that have superb temperaments. All of our dogs are health screened and come with a written health guarantee.
